Out & About


The market town of Harleston is only 5 minutes drive from our site. You will find Budgens supermarket (open 7 days) for all your provisions as well as a choice butchers, bakeries, green grocers and a deli shop. You will also find a collection of independent retailers, cafe's, an art gallery and pubs serving food.  Market day is Wednesday. Some smaller shops are closed on Thursday afternoon.

There is a free car park in the centre of Harleston where you will find Budgens supermarket. 


Southwold - Approx 20.4 miles  (40 mins by car)                                          

The charming resort of Southwold is well worth a visit. Gift shops and cafe on the Pier, walk the promenade up to the main street, visit the harbour (where you will find excellent fish and chips), take the ferry over to Walberswick, great food at the pubs there.


The village of Fressingfield (5mins by car) is our neighbouring village. As well as being the home of excellent eatery 'The Fox & Goose' you will find a great village shop 'Fressingfield Stores - Mace'

An excellent local village shop, get your daily fresh baked bread and milk. Treat yourselves to freshly baked croissants available on Sunday mornings!


Bungay (20 mins by car)

Enjoy Bungay with it's assortment of independent shops, browse for antiques and choose to eat from the choice of great eateries - The Black Dog, The Castle Inn, Earsham Street Cafe and more....



Just a 25 minute drive to the vibrant market town of Framlingham - well worth a visit! A great array of independent shops with a bustling market on Saturdays and Tuesdays. A good choice of places to eat too. Try The Dancing Goat Cafe for good coffee and excellent homemade cakes, enjoy a relaxed lunch at The Crown Hotel, a 16th century coaching inn full of character, The Lemon Tree Bistro and many more! .....almost forgot to mention Framlingham Castle! Aldeburgh  27.4 miles  49 mins by car

Visit the coastal town of Aldeburgh. You will find pastel-coloured 19th century villas lining Aldeburgh's traditional seaside promenade while to the east, on the pebbly beach, local fishermen lean from their fishing huts, proffering the morning's catch to a stream of passers-by.

Travel inland and you'll come to Aldeburgh's thoroughly independent High Street, where you can find boutique clothes shops, art galleries, antique stores & bookshops.

Also nearby is Snape Maltings - well worth a visit for some retail therapy.
